Our rugs
Are your Berber rugs truly handmade in Morocco?
Yes. Each rug is hand-knotted or hand-woven in sheep's wool by weavers from the tribes of the Middle and High Atlas: Beni Ouarain, M'rirt and Azilal. We purchase them directly in Morocco. Each piece is unique: it exists as a single example only and is sold just once.
What is the difference between a Beni Ouarain, an M'rirt and an Azilal?
The Beni Ouarain is off-white, thick, with understated black patterns: the rug for calm interiors. The M'rirt resembles it, with a denser and softer wool — the most luxurious of the three. Are the stated dimensions accurate?
For a rug in stock, consult each piece's product page: it specifies whether the stated dimensions include the fringes or not. For a made-to-order rug, the sizes offered are fringe-exclusive. A handmade rug is never perfectly rectangular: a few centimetres of width difference between the two ends are part of its character.
Are the rugs washed before shipping?
Yes. Each piece is washed using the traditional method, dried flat, then inspected in our warehouse in France before dispatch. You receive a clean rug, ready to lay.
Does a wool rug shed?
New wool releases a few fibres during the first weeks, especially on thick pieces: this is normal and diminishes with use. Vacuum without a rotating brush, in the direction of the pile.
Choosing your rug
How do I choose the right rug size?
In a living room, placing the front legs of the sofa and armchairs on the rug creates the most harmonious arrangement; leave 20 to 30 cm of visible floor around it. In a bedroom, a rug that extends 60 to 70 cm on each side of the bed dresses the room; a bedside runner is sufficient for a smaller budget. In a hallway, choose a narrow and long format. Do you offer made-to-order rugs?
Yes. We have made-to-order Berber rugs woven in Morocco — Beni Ouarain, M'rirt or Azilal — in the dimensions, patterns and colours of your choice. The production and delivery lead time is indicated on each made-to-order product page.
Can we see the rugs before buying?
Yes, at our showroom near Toulouse, by appointment. Remotely, each product page presents the rug photographed on a white background, with its exact dimensions and, for most pieces, a styled setting. And you have 14 days after receipt to change your mind.
Order and delivery
Where are the rugs shipped from and how long does delivery take?
All pieces listed as in stock are in our warehouse in France, ready to be dispatched. The estimated delivery time is displayed on each product page according to your country. Your parcel is tracked to your door.
Do you deliver outside France?
Yes, throughout Europe and internationally. For countries outside the European Union (Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States…), customs duties may be applied upon arrival by the authorities of your country; these are at your expense. What payment methods do you accept?
Payment is secure and is made at the time of ordering: credit card and the other methods displayed at the payment step. Prices are shown inclusive of all taxes, excluding delivery costs, which are calculated before order confirmation.
Can I give a rug as a gift?
Yes. Our gift card, in the amount of your choice, gives the recipient the pleasure of choosing their own piece. You can also write to us to prepare a specific gift: we will advise you on size and colours.
Returns and care
What should I do if the rug does not suit me?
For a stock rug that does not suit you, inform us of your decision within 14 days of receiving it at contact@tamazi.fr, then dispatch it within 14 days of that notification, in its original condition. Return costs are at your expense. Made-to-order rugs are excluded from returns for change of mind. Once the rug has been received and inspected, the refund is processed to your original payment method within 4 to 7 days. Full details are in our return and refund policy.
How do I care for my Berber rug?
Vacuum without a rotating brush once a week, in the direction of the pile. In the event of a stain, blot immediately with a damp cloth and lukewarm water, without rubbing; a diluted mild soap is sufficient for greasy stains. No machine washing, no steam cleaner, no prolonged direct sunlight. Turn the rug over once or twice a year to even out wear. All our advice is in the Berber rug care guide.
What about a stubborn stain or a full clean?
Entrust the rug to a professional cleaner experienced with wool, or wash it flat in cold water with a mild soap, allowing it to dry completely in the shade before putting it back in place. If in doubt, write to us with a photo: we will tell you what to do.
