The Story of Tamazi

Tamazi was born from a passion for Berber craftsmanship and a conviction: every interior deserves a unique piece, rich in history and expertise. Our mission is to make the most beautiful Berber rugs from Morocco accessible, directly from the workshops of Atlas artisans to your living room.

The name "Tamazi" is a tribute to the Amazigh culture, a millennia-old people of the Maghreb whose art of weaving is part of the intangible cultural heritage. Every rug we select carries within it centuries of tradition, symbols and emotion.

An Ancestral Expertise

Our rugs are entirely hand-knotted by artisans from the tribes of the Moroccan Middle Atlas. Each piece requires several weeks, sometimes several months of work. The geometric patterns and color variations are not flaws — they are the signature of authentic human craftsmanship.

We work primarily with three types of rugs, each with its own unique character:

• The Mrirt, our signature product: the pinnacle of the Berber rug, dense, soft and refined, in a palette of deep colors
• The Beni Ouarain: minimalist with its cream white background and geometric black patterns, in pure natural wool
• The Azilal: woven in wool and cotton, vibrant with energy through its bright colors: turquoise, yellow, pink, vivid orange

All share a generous thickness of approximately 2 to 3 cm (~2.5 cm), ideal for optimal underfoot comfort.

From the Atlas to Your Interior

We personally select each rug, in direct collaboration with weaving cooperatives in Morocco. This relationship without intermediaries allows us to guarantee the authenticity of each piece and to ensure fair compensation for the artisans.

After selection, each rug is washed using the traditional method: water is poured directly onto the rug laid flat on the ground, in several passes. Drying is done flat on wooden poles in the sun. The more a rug is washed, the more silky, white and lustrous it becomes.

It is then from our warehouse in France that we ensure fast and careful delivery throughout Europe.
