The M'rirt: why it is the premium Berber rug
The M'rirt rug stands apart from all other Berber rugs through three characteristics that make it a category of its own:
The densest weave The M'rirt has the tightest weave of all Berber rugs. Where the Azilal and the Beni Ouarain have a relatively open weave, the M'rirt is knotted with exceptional density — each square centimetre contains a significantly higher number of knots. The result: a compact, heavy and incredibly durable rug that will retain its structure and appearance for decades.
The silkiest wool, The wool of the M'rirt undergoes an artisanal process of washing and rubbing that gives it a pearlescent sheen and a silky softness to the touch. It is a very different sensation from the airy softness of the Beni Ouarain: the M'rirt is firm, velvety and silky, like thick velvet underfoot. The pile can reach 5 cm in depth.
The most refined appearance, The M'rirt has a visual quality close to a high-end velvet rug, yet with the warmth and authenticity of Berber craftsmanship. The colours are deep and luminous; the patterns, often more understated than those of the Azilal, bring a sense of subtlety. It is a rug that impresses through its perceived quality from the very first glance and the very first touch.
Ordering a custom M'rirt is an investment in the finest piece of Berber craftsmanship, made to the exact dimensions of your space.
How does the M'rirt custom order process work?
The process is the same as for our other made-to-measure ranges, with particular care given to the premium positioning of the M'rirt:
1. Choose a design, Browse the M'rirt rug models shown above. Each model displays the pattern style, colour palette and velvety finish of the rug. Select the one that matches the atmosphere you wish to create.
2. Specify your dimensions, On the product page of your chosen model, select the desired size. Length and width at your convenience. Made-to-measure allows you to obtain an M'rirt suited to any space, including very large formats that are difficult to find in stock.
3. Artisanal production in Morocco, Your order is passed on to our weavers in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region, in the Middle Atlas. The ultra-dense weave of the M'rirt is the most demanding of all Berber rugs: each row of knots requires more time and more precision. Allow 10 to 14 weeks for production and delivery.
4. Inspection in Toulouse and dispatch, The finished rug is shipped to our premises in Toulouse, where we verify the weave density, pile regularity, wool quality and conformity to the ordered design. As the M'rirt is our most demanding range, this inspection is particularly rigorous. Only rugs that meet our standards are dispatched to you.
What to know before ordering
You choose an existing design, The made-to-measure aspect applies to dimensions. You select a model from our existing M'rirt designs; the weaver will reproduce the style, patterns and colour palette to approximately 80–90%. The hand-weaving process and the individual creativity of each weaver mean the result will never be 100% identical — this is what guarantees the uniqueness of your piece.
Dimensional tolerance of ± 10 cm, Artisanal weaving involves a possible variation of plus or minus 10 cm on the final dimensions. Fringes are not included in the ordered dimensions (present on both ends). If your space is constrained, order 5 to 10 cm below your maximum dimension.
Lead time of 10 to 14 weeks, The M'rirt is the Berber rug that takes the longest to weave due to the exceptional density of its construction. The lead time covers production in Morocco, transport to Toulouse, quality inspection and dispatch. It may vary depending on the size ordered and the time of year.
A lasting investment, The M'rirt is the most durable Berber rug over time, thanks to the density of its weave and the quality of its wool. A well-maintained M'rirt retains its appearance and softness for decades. It is a purchase you will make only once — all the more reason to get the dimensions right.
For which spaces should you order a custom M'rirt?
The M'rirt rug is the choice of those who want the best in terms of quality, comfort and durability. Made-to-measure allows it to be perfectly adapted to any space:
Reception room or main living area, A custom M'rirt sized to the exact dimensions of your seating area creates a high-end wall-to-wall effect, with a visible floor border that highlights the quality of the weave. Its velvety appearance and pearlescent sheen impress visitors from the very first glance. It is the centrepiece of a refined interior.
Master suite or principal bedroom, An M'rirt placed under the bed, sized to suit your bedroom, transforms the sleeping space into a luxury cocoon. Its thickness (up to 5 cm) provides firm, enveloping comfort underfoot — a velvet-like sensation every morning.
Study or library, In a workspace, the M'rirt brings a studious and refined atmosphere. Its understated appearance and velvety texture create an environment of focus and calm. The dense weave provides excellent sound insulation — an advantage for calls and meetings.
Dining room, The M'rirt resists stains and wear better than other Berber rugs thanks to its density. It is easier to maintain in a dining area — crumbs and spills remain on the surface and can be cleaned quickly.
High-end professional space, Hotel, architect's studio, executive office, showroom: the custom M'rirt is the Berber rug suited to spaces where the image of quality matters. Its velvet-like appearance and density immediately communicate refinement and attention to detail.
How to measure correctly for your custom M'rirt
The same measuring rules apply to all our made-to-measure rugs:
Measure the available space, Use a tape measure on the floor, recording length and width in centimetres. If your room is not perfectly rectangular, measure at several points.
Floor border: 30 to 50 cm, Leave a visible strip of floor between the edges of the rug and the walls. This is particularly important for the M'rirt: its velvety appearance and density deserve to be framed by a clean border.
Living room, Front legs of the sofa on the rug, 20 to 30 cm beyond the coffee table.
Bedroom, Width of the bed + 60 cm on each side, length + 80 cm at the foot.
Dining room, Table dimensions + 60 cm per side (chairs pulled out).
Tolerance ± 10 cm, In a constrained space, order 5 to 10 cm less. In an open space, the tolerance has no impact.
The weight of the M'rirt, The M'rirt is the heaviest of all Berber rugs due to its density. Plan to have two people to unroll and position it, especially in large formats.

Frequently asked questions about custom M'rirt rugs
What makes the M'rirt rug different from other Berber rugs?
The M'rirt rug is the premium tier of Berber rugs. It stands out through the densest weave (more knots per square centimetre), a silky wool with a pearlescent sheen obtained through an artisanal washing and rubbing process, and a thick velvet-like appearance (up to 5 cm deep). It is heavier, more durable and more luxurious to the touch than the Azilal or the Beni Ouarain.
How do I order a custom M'rirt rug?
Choose a design from our M'rirt models, select the desired size on the product page and complete your purchase online. Your order is passed on to our weavers in the Beni Mellal-Khénifra region in the Middle Atlas. The rug is inspected in Toulouse before being dispatched to you. Allow 10 to 14 weeks.
Can I freely choose the colours and patterns?
The made-to-measure aspect applies to dimensions. You choose a design from our existing models; it is the style and palette of that model which will be reproduced, at approximately 80–90% fidelity. Hand-weaving ensures that each rug remains a unique piece, with the subtle variations inherent to artisanal craft.
Why is the lead time 10 to 14 weeks?
The M'rirt is the Berber rug that takes the longest to weave. Its exceptional weave density requires each row of knots to be tightened with superior precision and force. The lead time covers production in Morocco, transport, quality inspection in Toulouse and delivery to your address.
Are the final dimensions guaranteed?
Artisanal weaving involves a tolerance of ± 10 cm. Fringes are not included in the ordered dimensions. If your space is constrained, order 5 to 10 cm less than your maximum dimension. As the M'rirt has the most regular weave, variations are generally smaller than on other ranges.
Is a custom M'rirt a good investment?
Yes. The M'rirt rug is the most durable of all Berber rugs thanks to the density of its weave and the quality of its wool. A well-maintained M'rirt retains its velvety appearance and softness for decades. Made-to-measure guarantees perfect dimensions, which maximises the integration of the rug into your space and its long-term decorative value.
