Our story
The Berber rug, handwoven in the Atlas Mountains
Tamazi was born from a journey to Morocco and one simple standard: to offer only rugs whose origin we know. In the Atlas Mountains, we work alongside cooperatives and weavers who turn raw wool into one-of-a-kind pieces, with patience and skill.

From fleece to rug
Sorting the wool
Each sheep’s fleece is opened and sorted by hand, keeping only the long, soft fibres.
Washing in the river
The wool is washed by hand in clear river water, then dried in the Atlas sun.
Carding and spinning
Untangled, carded and hand-spun, the wool gains the depth and suppleness that give the rug its feel.
Weaving
Knot by knot, on an upright loom, the weaver brings the design to life. A large rug takes several weeks of work.
